Lucent apartments and Luminare apartments are a dual-tower project located in Newstead. The new luxury apartments are designed to function as a health and wellness hotel, without the hotel guests. With premium fixtures throughout the apartments, urban New York-style views looking out to Brisbane CBD and a rooftop packed with enough amenities to keep residents occupied (and fit) for an entire Saturday, it’s impossible to suggest they haven’t nailed their brief. The apartment building is pet-friendly, has an underground secure carpark and offers morning yoga three times a week and a monthly wine-tasting session; all free of charge.
The first tower, Lucent, has been completed, and Luminare is due to be released soon. Both towers are designed to “take advantage of the locality’s high-frequency transport options and the range of retail, commercial and entertainment facilities within the surrounding Gasworks Precinct”, according to the developer.
The Lucent apartments are a 15-storey residential tower, with a mix of one, two and three-bedroom options available. Luminare will be 25 storeys and will similarly have a mix of one, two and three-bedroom options available for purchase. Both towers include large rooftop swimming pools, sundecks, yoga lawns, golf simulators, outdoor cinema, saunas, fully functional gyms and a private dining room for residents, all situated on the rooftop of the building.
As well as the rooftop facilities, Lucent also offers a concierge service to organise your dry cleaning, car washing, dog grooming and dog walking. The private 15-seater dining room, Table 55, is also available for residents to book.
The Lucent apartments were sold off-the-plan to Cavcorp’s exclusive network, only going public with the sale once the building was completed in December of 2017. The Cavcorp network included buyers who’ve purchased with Cavcorp before, as well as Brisbane residents who are within their independent database. As well as being the builders and developers, Cavcorp Group are the interior designers, engineers and also take care of the ongoing building management.
The views from the Lucent building are definitely notable. From the lower levels, it’s mostly an urban view of the surrounding buildings looking towards the CBD. Currently, there are no buildings close enough for residents to feel like their privacy on the balcony is compromised, although this may change over the next few years as more developments progress in the area. The rooftop view is significantly more impressive, with unobstructed views of the city skyline and looking out towards the river.
We love…
But remember that…
The Lucent apartments are located on Longland Street in Newstead, only 300m away from the Gasworks Precinct, offering an array of dining options and services. Newstead is a great location for commuters and young professionals. Only a 5-10 minute drive away from the city, the convenience is comparable to West End and South Bank. The bus system throughout the suburb is quite good, and is complemented by easy access to the CityCat ferry that runs along the Brisbane River.
With everything from gyms to wine bars to hairdressers located close by, life without a car would be quite easy in Newstead. That being said, if you do drive often, parking is a significant issue. The multiple construction sites in Newstead, particularly around the Lucent apartments, mean quite a lot of street parking is currently sectioned off. Congestion isn’t too bad in Newstead, with Breakfast Creek Road running throughout. The Inner City Bypass is also quite close, providing access to the highways in an out of Brisbane without having to navigate through the standstill CBD traffic.
Newstead is comprised primarily of households with a double income and no children — young professionals mostly. At 67-70%, this is the highest proportion in Queensland for this demographic. Newstead neighbours Teneriffe, which is Queensland’s first $3 million suburb. The facilities and location of these areas draw affluent young professionals like bees to honey.
For those who do have children, local schools include Newstead Primary School, New Farm State School and Holy Spirit Catholic school in New Farm. Travelling to both UQ and QUT campuses is also very easy thanks to the CityCat. Check out our Suburb Profile for more information on the education offering, median property prices and lifestyle offering in Newstead.
The lobby of the Lucent apartments building includes 24/7 onsite management, where residents can book out the private dining room, confirm attendance for the rooftop yoga sessions and other exclusive events within the building. Carwashing and dog grooming can also be arranged through onsite management. Lucent is one of the first to provide a digital “activities board” in the lobby advertising upcoming events within the building such as wine tastings and one-off events and collaborations. Examples of events they’ve had in the past include breakfasts from CocoBliss and golfing lessons at the virtual golf range.
The rooftop is obviously one of the main drawcards to Lucent. Spread out over 1,600 square metres, the private rooftop offers a state-of-the-art sauna imported from Sweden, and a spa which looks out over the pool and city views. Sitting at 55m long and 6m wide, fitted with underwater speakers, the Lucent pool currently holds the title of Australia’s longest residential pool. The gym is fully-function and includes weights, a stair machine, treadmills, ellipticals and Pilates reformers. This equipment is all hooked up to the high-speed WI-FI in the building and offers connectivity to apps like YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, Skype and Spotify as you workout. They also offer dedicated personal trainers as an option for residents. The 42 sunbeds spread throughout the rooftop are designer Spanish imports from Gandia Blasco (the same sunbeds used at luxury resort Marina Bay Sands in Singapore).
Each apartment includes a single car space in the underground secure carpark, which is something to keep in mind. There are also only seven visitor spaces available, which are expected to fill up fast with 190 apartments. If you enjoy entertaining, another option for your guests is to park in the Gasworks carpark, which offers two hours free and then reasonable parking rates after that. The Lucent carpark boasts Telsa chargers, a refrigerated locker system so residents can have their groceries delivered while they are out, a car wash and a dog wash.
Long Island Brisbane will bring 6000m² of retail space and a 5000m² piazza to the ground floor of the Lucent apartments building. Total Fusion is also opening up on the mezzanine level of the building, offering 130 classes a week including hot yoga, Pilates and functional training. This gym will be open to the public, not just Lucent residents.
