Hilltop Apartments is a five-level residential development located in Chermside, which is a 20 minute drive from Brisbane’s CBD. Chermside is often referred to as Brisbane’s Northern CBD, as it is home to Queensland’s largest shopping centre. It is also becoming a significant work hub for northern Brisbane with a substantial commercial precinct growing around the Chermside Shopping Centre.
Hilltop has 31 apartments – all are two-bedroom – and have been designed so that there are no common walls between bedrooms. Construction is now complete.
Hilltop Apartments has 31 two-bedroom apartments, built on an elevated site with generous windows and balconies to maximise light and views.
There are three different layouts: Apartment type 2D has 77 square metres of internal space and a 13 square metre balcony space; Type 2F has 76 square metres of internal space and 12 square metres of balcony space, and Type 2B has 77 square metres of internal space and 12 square metres of balcony.
Both of these apartment types – 2B and 2F – have all bedrooms opening onto the balconies. Type 2D has access to the balcony from one bedroom only. There are no common walls between bedrooms on any of the floor plans, for greater privacy.
All apartments have a secure parking space. There are also allocated visitor parking spaces.
Access to the building is via electronic security fob.
A real drawcard for Hilltop Apartments is its location, with an enormous range of shopping and entertainment options all within close distance.
Westfield Chermside is a short drive and about a 4 block walk from Hilltop Apartments. Westfield Chermside is Brisbane’s largest shopping centre and is genuinely world-class. It has more than 400 stores, services and restaurants, including large chains such as Myer, David Jones, Kmart, Target, Apple and Harris Scarfe. Within Chermside Shopping Centre is also a 16-screen Event Cinema complex (including 3D and Gold Class).
The shopping centre also has a Woolworths and a Coles supermarket right at your fingertips –so you actually don’t even need your car to go grocery shopping. Right across the road from Chermside shopping centre is the Chermside Library.
In recent years the shopping centre has built up quite a significant restaurant and bar scene, so it is also an attractive location for after-hour activities as well. As well The Kedron-Wavell Services Club is a popular social venue a short distance away from Hilltop Apartments. You can dine at the restaurant, café or bar in the club while listening to live music. There is a kids club to keep the little ones entertained while you enjoy a meal or play bingo. They also hold special events and there is a bottle shop within the club.
During the hot summer season, families can enjoy swimming lessons in the 25m lap pool or the numerous twisty slides in the water park. There is also an indoor pool when it gets too cold to swim outside. The swim club is right next door to the Services Club.
The 7th Brigade Park is a great place to take your family or your dog. Visitors can enjoy bushwalking, picnics or barbecues. There are playgrounds, barbeques, picnic tables, basketball half-courts, cricket pitches and an off-leash dog park.
Neighbouring suburbs include Aspley, Geebung, Wavell Heights, Stafford, Chermside West and Kedron.
There are a number of schools in the Chermside area that are within a seven minute drive. Geebung State School, Craigslea State High School, Wavell State High School and Aspley State School are just a few schools around the suburb.
Access into Brisbane City to the south is via Gympie Road, which is the major arterial bringing traffic from the northern suburbs, including the Sunshine Coast. It is therefore a very busy road. Recent tunnel developments have certainly made accessing south of the Brisbane river or to the west much easier. Perhaps the best way to commute to the City will be by bus, with excellent services running continuously down Gympie Rd. There are also numerous buses at the Chermside Shopping Centre station that can take you to the city, airport, or anywhere else in Brisbane which is very handy.
Travel to the Queensland University of Technology’s (QUT) Gardens Point campus takes 45 minutes by bus (the 333 from Chermside Shopping Centre station to King George Square bus station) and walking to the campus. The 333 also stops at QUT’s Kelvin Grove campus bus station; this takes only 13 minutes. The University of Queensland St Lucia campus is an hour bus ride (the 333 to King George Square, then the 412 to UQ).
The nearest hospitals in Chermside are Prince Charles Hospital and Holy Spirit Private Hospital, which are in the same precinct.. The Chermside Medical Complex offers a day surgery, pharmacy and other medical clinics just across the road from Chermside Shopping Centre.
All apartment kitchens have stainless steel European appliances and soft-closing draws.
As with Brisbane at large, Chermside is seeing a strong development cycle. There are a substantial amount of new projects to choose from.
Both of the following developments are within 3km of Hilltop Apartments.
Zen Residences on Zenith Avenue is a comparable development. The stand-out feature on some of Zen’s two-bedroom apartments are the generously proportioned balconies (17sqm), and the great views of the surrounding area. Prices start from $372,000 when they first hit the market.
