Indigo Apartments are a recently completed development in Wynnum. Sitting in a quiet residential enclave, Indigo Apartments is a boutique complex with Moreton Bay views — excellent for downsizers or empty nesters. The location means residents can enjoy the waterfront lifestyle and easy access to boating passages and swimming spots. There are only three of the two-bedroom apartments remaining out of the original 16 in the building, with prices starting at $465,000.
The fully secure building is on Clara Street in Wynnum, Brisbane. The north-eastern aspect means the majority of the apartments have expansive Moreton Bay views. Each of the apartments has between 75m² and 80m² of indoor space and large 13m² balconies. With prices for waterfront property skyrocketing in Brisbane’s inner suburbs, Wynnum remains one of the only coastal areas with apartments under $500,000, although we doubt this will last long with demand expected to soar in the next few years.
Indigo Apartments are being marketed towards both first-home buyers as well as empty nesters and downsizers, however, due to the location, these apartments might be better suited to the latter demographic. Although the price point is right for first-home buyers looking to enter the market, the lifestyle of Wynnum is definitely more suited to those looking to take some time out and slow things down a little bit. That said, the area is expected to pick up dramatically over the next few years, and the nearby Port of Brisbane is expected to increase employment numbers by 30,000 bringing more working-age Brisbanites to the bayside area.
Indigo Apartments is located on 72 Clara Street Wynnum. Wynnum feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city, despite being only 30 minutes away (outside peak times) from the CBD. Only a decade or so ago, Wynnum was not much more than a quaint coastal town, but the infrastructure and industry boom in the area of late means Wynnum is an up-and-coming suburb. The iconic Waterloo Bay Hotel has been receiving major upgrades over the last year and coupled with a new cinema which has recently been approved, it doesn’t look like development is slowing.
There has also been an influx of trendy cafes in Wynnum including The Rabbit Hole Cafe & Bar, Caffination Station, Frankie’s Coffee Bar and Pelican’s Nest Cafe, which sits right on the front of the esplanade. Also worth a mention is Frenchies Cafe, who pride themselves not only on their cappuccinos but their puppuccinos too. Locals say it’s almost impossible to walk past Frenchies without stealing a cuddle from one of the dogs that often frequent the cafe alongside their owners. Frenchies and many of the other Wynnum cafes are located within 200m walk from Indigo Apartments. (Thinking of getting a pup? Check out our list of the best apartment friendly dog breeds here!).
Aside from the booming cafe industry, the area is dotted with waterfront parks, beaches, walking tracks and bikeways. Only 500 metres from the waterfront, the Indigo Apartments are in a great spot, with Wynnum Wading Pool 400 metres away (the perfect spot to cool down on a warm day) and Manly Boat Habour just two kilometres away with easy access to Moreton Bay. Wynnum Golf Club is also a great local community and is a very well maintained and picturesque course.
Last year saw the opening of Gundu Pa, a new health services centre on Whites Road in Wynnum West. This centre offers primary care, a dental clinic, specialist outpatient clinics, mental health services and other allied health services. In terms of emergency care, the closest hospital to Wynnum is either the Mater in South Brisbane or Prince Charles in Chermside, both of which are approximately half an hour away.
Public transport is fairly easy in Wynnum too, as the train line from the CBD runs all the way to Wynnum. The train station is a 9-minutes walk away from Indigo Apartments and it takes about 40 minutes to get to the CBD.

On the rooftop, you’ll find a landscaped garden with expansive views out to Moreton Bay. The large garden is complemented by a communal terrace with barbecue, dining and lounge area and bathroom — the perfect spot for an afternoon tipple while you watch the sunset.
Each of the two-bedroom apartments at Indigo has two bathrooms and a secure car space (with plenty of street parking available too). Indigo Apartments offers air conditioning ducted to the living area and main bedroom and a ceiling fan in the second bedroom. The apartments are also NBN ready, with provisions provided for the cabling.
This boutique complex of only 16 apartments does offer an internal lift, which is rare for an apartment block of this size. This is another excellent check in the box making Indigo very suitable for downsizers who may not be the biggest fans of stairs.
Both bedrooms have built-in wardrobes, with the master bedroom also including an ensuite. In a few of the floor plans, the master opens out onto the balcony, capitalising on those beautiful cross-breezes. Storage is a big plus at Indigo Apartments, with plenty of large cupboards and additional storage areas available.
All the floor plans are designed to maximise breezes coming from the bay and to make the apartments feel light and airy.
The finishes were selected by interior designers at Design Nest with large feature tiles throughout the living spaces and plush carpeted bedrooms. The kitchen offers Bosch appliances and Abey sink and tapware which sit atop stone bench tops. The cabinetry in the kitchen and bathroom is timber, excepting the vanities in the bathroom which are mirrored. The bathrooms are a real feature, with large, floor-to-ceiling tiles and semi-frameless shower screens.
Real Estate Institute of Queensland figures shows house prices have increased 25.9% in Wynnum within the last five years and this is expected to increase. Although Indigo Apartments is expected to be primarily owner-occupiers, the capital gains are anticipated to be very significant. The growth predicted in the next five years is expected to be steeper than the last five years have shown. The median price for a two-bedroom apartment in Wynnum is currently $424,000. The pricing for Indigo Apartments — although higher than the median — is reasonable as many of the current apartments being bought and sold in Wynnum are several years old. Additionally, the level of finishes in Indigo Apartments justify the price tag.
