Recent tunnel developments have certainly made accessing south of the Brisbane river or to the west much easier. Perhaps the best way to commute to the City will be by bus, with excellent services running continuously down Gympie Rd. There are also numerous buses at the Chermside Shopping Centre station that can take you to the city, airport, or anywhere else in Brisbane which is very handy.
Travel to the Queensland University of Technology’s (QUT) Gardens Point campus takes 45 minutes by bus (the 333 from Chermside Shopping Centre station to King George Square bus station) and walking to the campus. The 333 also stops at QUT’s Kelvin Grove campus bus station; this takes only 13 minutes. The University of Queensland St Lucia campus is an hour bus ride (the 333 to King George Square, then the 412 to UQ).
The nearest hospitals in Chermside are Prince Charles Hospital and Holy Spirit Private Hospital, which are in the same precinct.. The Chermside Medical Complex offers a day surgery, pharmacy and other medical clinics just across the road from Chermside Shopping Centre.
