Find Your Home: Main Beach, Broadbeach and Chevron Island

Today we are starting a new series on PropertyMash called ‘Find Your Home’. The premise is simple: you reach out and tell us what you’re looking for, and we help you narrow down your options by presenting our picks that meet your criteria. Take away the stress of searching yourself by having us give you 3-5 options, including specific apartments that we think will meet your requirements.

Our first Finder is Harvey, who currently lives in Brisbane. Harvey is a 70-year old man looking for a beach house on the Gold Coast that will eventually become a home for him and his wife over the next few years. He’s looking for a holiday home on the Gold Coast that is ideal for relaxing, close to the beach, and is in a well-connected location so that his wife can easily go out shopping. It also needs to have space for his children and grandchildren to come to visit, and needs to be easy to move around in as his wife has mobility issues. His original brief mentioned wanting to be able to experience the Gold Coast the way he did when he was younger, and a slight preference towards Surfer’s Paradise was mentioned due to this.

Now, as any good Goldie will know, Surfer’s Paradise has changed quite a bit since the 1960’s and 70’s – whilst the vibe is still very fun and exciting, it’s not quite as popular with older crowds anymore, and it can be a little crazy during peak times of the year. Given this, we’re recommending options in Broadbeach, Main Beach, and Chevron Island, which are going to be more similar to the kind of culture Harvey and his wife are looking for: relaxed, casual, and well-connected.

Without further ado, let’s get into it!

Beach House | Broadbeach

Beach House Broadbeach
Beach House Broadbeach

Our first pick for the Broadbeach area is the incredibly sought-after Beach House. With only 12 full-floor apartments across 14 floors, this is a rather exclusive development that sits on the water in Broadbeach. Each apartment has three bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, and two tandem carparks, along with additional storage on the ground floor (perfect for storing your beach accessories so you don’t have to bring them up to your home and get it sandy!). Take the lift straight up into the heart of your residence using a secure key-fob, and look straight out onto the ocean. The resident facilities are designed to have a resort-style feeling, and will include a rooftop infinity pool, a fully-equipped gym, a spa and sauna.

Each apartment is designed to capitalise on the views it has with wrap-around balconies, and floor-to-ceiling double-glazed windows (that boast energy efficient e-coating). Each apartment has integrated Miele appliances, butler’s pantries, wine display cabinets and fridges in the kitchens, with built-in gas BBQs on the balconies giving residents a lot of places to entertain guests. This project seems ideal for Harvey given that he mentioned that he and his wife like to host their family often, and they need space to spread out once all of the grandchildren are over!

Our recommendation in the building: Level 9

Our recommended apartment in the building is also the only one left for sale, but we probably would have recommended this floor even if there were other options. The Level 9 apartment is at a great spot in the building for the couple: high enough to have incredible views, but not so much that Harvey and his wife would have major issues using the stairs if they had to evacuate for whatever reason. The 9th floor apartment has three bedrooms, a media room, and 3.5 bathrooms for a total area of 262 sqm. This apartment is priced from $4,500,000.

Midwater | Main Beach

Midwater is a very cool building: it has waterviews on two sides, with the Nerang River at its back, and the ocean to its front. Macintosh Island Park is opposite, and Tedder Avenue is just a few minutes away, leaving it still incredibly well connected. The building is designed to emulate 5-star hotels worldwide, with an open stone-clad lobby and an automated valet parking system that requires residents to simply swipe their security card to see their car delivered to its secure basement car park. On level 39 residents have access to the resident’s lounge and beer garden, BBQ area, yoga deck, and rooftop infinity-edge pool and bar. On level 3, hit the gym, sauna and spa, the BBQ and terrage area, or the pool and sun lounge.

Every apartment has floor-to-ceiling windows to allow residents to enjoy the uninterrupted views.

Our recommendation in the building: Any of the three and four-bedroom residences

It was hard to pick an apartment at Midwater to recommend, so we decided to recommend them all. Every apartment has incredible views, and they are priced very competitively for their location. We’re recommending the three and four-bedroom apartments to Harvey because he indicated that he wanted space to relax, and for the whole family to visit. Luckily for him, there are a number of these apartments within Midwater, and all have the high-end finishes seen throughout the development: timber flooring, smart home automation (the lighting, audio and video, blinds, air-conditioning and security can all be controlled from your device), and full-finish bathrooms mean every space looks like it could be from the extremely expensive hotel you visit once a year. Given that this project is also under construction, it makes it the ideal choice for Harvey because he will be able to move in more quickly. Three-bedroom apartments with beach views start from $1,909,900.

Assana | Broadbeach

Assana
Assana

This is a bit of a different pick for the Broadbeach area – it’s not on the beach, but it does have ocean, hinterland, canal and Memorial Gardens views, and it’s in a very well-connected location with the beach just minute’s walk away and both Surfer’s Paradise, Main Beach, and Mermaid Beach all within five minute’s drive. This project is on our options list for the level of amenities and things to do within it, and for the high level to which the project has been designed. It’s also the only skyscraper on the block, and the views in two directions cannot be built out.

Residents are Assana will have access to the landscaped level 10 recreation area that includes an infinity pool, gym, wellness retreat and resident’s lounge. The ground floor of the project – which will have a double-height lobby, waterfall leight and travertine floors – will also have a cafe.

Our recommendation in the building: The Penthouse

While the three penthouses at Assana are quite a few levels up – they sit on levels 50-53 of the project – the greatest benefit of these apartments is the fact that the entire interior can be personalised. Each penthouse has 360-degree views out towards the ocean, river, and hinterland, with over 500 sqm of space within the apartment. Each penthouse has a formal kitchen and bar including a professional-standard chef’s preparation kitchen, and a temperature-controlled wine-cellar/tasting room. The master bedroom is quite large, and the master bathroom features his and hers showers. One of the greatest aspects of the penthouse apartments is that there is a fully self-contained studio apartment with a kitchen, bathroom and laundry, which will be perfect for when the older grandkids come to stay and need a bit of space. Each penthouse also includes 3 carparks and a private lockable storeroom, and there will be express lift access to the penthouses. POA.

Greenwich | Chevron Island

Our final recommendation is a bit of a wild card, but we think it will have Harvey interested. Greenwich sits on the western end of Chevron Island, and overlooks the Nerang River and the famous Gold Coast skyline. Whilst the project is close to Surfer’s Paradise, Chevron Island benefits from the fact that it is, well, an island: it’s removed from all of the hustle-and-bustle of the main strip area for residents to relax, but still close enough that Harvey and his wife could pop on over any time they wanted to.

Greenwich has a number of two, three and four bedroom apartments with the project, and each is designed to mimic the contemporary Mediterranean style that is echoed throughout the building. Most of the windows have a unique arched design add to the project’s design. Residents have access to the rooftop garden and lounge area, along with a resident’s-only pool.

Our recommendation in the building: Apartments 903 or 1302

We think both apartments 903 and 1302 are the ideal choice for Harvey. Both apartments include marbled stone benchtops in the kitchem, wide-plank oak flooring, and brushed nickel hardware frames on some of the windows. Both apartments also have views over the Gold Coast skyline and the Nerang River. 903 is a three bedroom, two bathroom apartment with two carparks. It is priced from $1,599,000. 1302 is a three bedroom, three bedroom apartment with two carparks. It is priced from $2,295,000.

We hope that our recommendations help you find your dream home, Harvey!
