EG Funds Management twin-tower known as ‘Wanderlust’ has been given the go-ahead from the Gold Coast City Council. The development, located in the heart of Surfers Paradise, will provide a total of 770 apartments and 400 hotel suites over the two towers. The 56- and 72-storey buildings sit on a 5,255 sqm site between Orchid Avenue and Surfers Paradise Boulevard. This area is considered the centre of Surfers Paradise’s entertainment and nightclub district.
The mega-project, designed by Elenberg Fraser, has been billed as an “entertainment hub for South-East Asia”. Set to replace the current nightclub district, Wanderlust will include the Wanderlust Pool Club, a podium-level hub expected to attract world-class DJ and entertainment acts to the Gold Coast.
The entertainment component of the development comprises a 4,325sq m pool club with bookable pool-side cabanas, entertainment suites and a performance stage.
EG Funds development director Grant Flannigan said that “the development is an incredible opportunity to create an entertainment precinct that is geared towards international acts and performances.”
The residential component of the scheme will start on level three of the 72-storey tower. Four levels of basement car parking will provide 492 car spaces.
Wanderlust will be going up around the same time as the Orion and River Terrace, two other massive developments that will be in the surrounding area.
