Otto Mermaid Beach is a development of 70 apartments, each of which aims to encapsulate the lifestyle of Mermaid Beach, a waterside suburb of the Gold Coast. The two and three-bedroom apartments are quite spacious, with the open-plan living, dining and kitchen area allowing natural light inside in abundance.
This development is targeted toward owner-occupiers, but it would also be worth considering as an investment, given it is only 1km from the Star Casino and the Broadbeach area, both of which are developing very rapidly. Most apartments in Otto have ocean or hinterland views. The apartments at Otto have excellent car parking available for residents, with all three-bedroom apartments and some two-bedroom apartments coming with two car parks. Extra parking spaces can also be purchased. The two-bedroom apartments range from 74m² – 88m² internally. These apartments are a great price compared to other new and off-the-plan two-bedroom apartment in the suburb of Mermaid Beach, especially considering the quality and finishes are also above average.
Otto Mermaid Beach has a traditional open-plan design providing maximum space in the living and dining areas, with good flow through to the balcony space. The floor-to-ceiling windows and curved balconies are designed to make the most of the Mermaid Beach lifestyle.
All apartments have air conditioning to the main living areas and all bedrooms. In the two bedroom apartments, the air conditioning is split-system, with the compressors being housed in a service area (this is great because it saves balcony space and avoids noise). The three-bedroom apartments have ducted air conditioning.
The estimated body corporate fees are $85 a week for the two-bedroom apartments and $112 per week for the three-bedroom apartments. At this point in time, there is no onsite manager.
Otto is located at 1 Bondi Avenue, Mermaid Beach. This is the corner of Bondi Avenue and the Gold Coast Highway, ,eamong these apartments offer great transport connectivity. Mermaid Beach rapidly transforming into a vibrant village community with a much more relaxed atmosphere than other Gold Coast suburb. Residents of Mermaid Beach pride themselves on the close-knit vibe of the neighbourhood. However, the area has definitely seen a lot of growth and redevelopment over the last few years, as both the Pacific Fair Shopping Centre and the Gold Coast Light Rail have been renovated and upgraded. As the area around Broadbeach is growing, this area is transforming, and Otto is part of the new wave of development. Unlike Broadbeach and Surfers, Mermaid Beach is still primary low-set residential homes and the homes that run along the beach front are some of the most expensive on the Gold Coast.
Given how busy the Gold Coast Highway is, there will undoubtedly be noise carried into the apartments facing it (these are the beach-facing apartments). That said, being so close to the highway makes public transport from Otto extremely easy to come by. The two closest bus stops are less than two minutes walk away, and there are 11 bus stops within a 1km radius from Otto, making the spot ideal for commuters.
The closest schools are Broadbeach State School, which is for children in Prep – Year 6. Otto falls within the catchment area for this school, as does Miami State High School, which is for Grades 7 – 12. Both of these schools are less than five-minutes drive away, meaning that Otto is well-placed for small or growing families.
Every apartment comes with air conditioning and the building includes a wide selection of amenities, such as the pool, gym, cabana terrace, and a covered outdoor dining and lounge balcony with a BBQ. Every resident has access to the underground basement, but 22 of the two-bedroom apartments also have two side-by-side car spaces.
