The unveiling of the Montague Markets: West End’s next big development

In 2018 plans were unveiled for Pradella’s next big project in West End: Montague Markets and Residences. Expected to be ‘West End’s newest lifestyle destination’, the Montague Markets will top off the Riverside Water End master-planned community that Pradella have been working on since 2007; stretching from Montague road to River Side Drive. Other projects in this development include Waters Edge and Gardens which are complete, and Breeze, which is currently under construction.

Position Property will be marketing the new development; they have been working with Pradella for a long time and the two companies have been a big part of the changing face of West End over the last 20 years.

“The Montague Markets will be a beautiful location on Brisbane’s riverside,” said Brett Lentz Project Director at Pradella’s event yesterday evening. “Pradella’s vision for Riverside West End was to be a walkable community with a vibrant retail precinct. The Montague Markets finally brings together the finished product offering dining, office space, and shops to support the developments.”

According to Pradella, the closest equivalent to their new project is the Gasworks in Newstead. The Montague Markets will have:

  • Full-line Woolworths supermarket in the brand-new market style.
  • 1590 sqm of specialty stores (roughly 15 tenants).
  • The 1200 sqm Montague Road Plaza with alfresco dining.
  • Commercial office hub with 1300 sqm of space above the retail levels.
  • Two residential towers of eight and nine levels with resort style amenities.
  • A fresh produce zone, cafe and restaurant zone, and a services zone with salons and a pharmacy.
  • There are only a few stores already confirmed, one of which is BWS.
  • Three levels of basement with almost 300 parks.
  • Subtropical laneway connecting to Ferry Road with a public art space.

The Montague Markets will be located where the Pradella Display Suite currently is on Montague Road, West End. This is the 14th building project in this location for Pradella. Construction starts in late 2018 and is due to be complete mid-late 2020.

There are a lot of council developments and other investment in the area including the  Cross River Rail, the Brisbane Metro, the Queens Warf development and the $2 billion Brisbane Live Arena and development. Pradella is so confident about Brisbane and the state of the market that they want to get started with this project straight away.
