Brisbane Open House is a free public festival celebrating Brisbane’s architecture. It offers behind-the-scenes access to buildings across the city. This year Brisbane Skytower is taking part by offering free guided tours to the public on 13 – 14 October, 2018; showcasing the awesome architecture and never-seen-before views from the rooftop of the tallest tower in Brisbane.
Popular TV show hosts Andrew Winter and Neale Whitaker, of Lifestyle’s “Love It Or List It”, are coming to Brisbane on Tuesday, 9 October, 2018 to host an evening of good food, great wine, and talk about all things property and interior design. Held at Brisbane’s Aria restaurant overlooking the river and the Story Bridge, guests will enjoy a three-course meal by Australian celebrity chef Matt Moran. The event coincides with the start of Season 2 of the TV series starting in September 2018. Tickets at Eventbrite.
There is no denying that Brisbane is growing. Each year more people move to the Sunshine State’s capital (see page 40 for details). The expansion of the city and the development of suburbs is a sore subject for some residents who feel strongly about changes. Brisbane City Council are holding an information session on Tuesday, 30 October 2018 at the Brisbane City Hall, 64 Adelaide Street. You can book a ten-minute session with a planning specialist to raise concerns and get answers to any questions you might have.
Ten-storey development, Serenity, on the Gold Coast’s Isle of Capri, is set to commence building by the end of 2018; as is Coorparoo’s luxury Maasra apartment development which offers supersized four-bedroom apartments, perfect for downsizers.
One 16 Surfers Paradise will be finishing construction before the end of the year. Just a little further down the coast, Neo Mermaid Beach is due to finish construction in November 2018 (just five apartments left). Also due or completion in November 2018 are the Carlos Residences in the Brisbane suburb of Kedron. Anchorage Hope Island Stage 3 is due for completion in December of 2018, alongside the brand new Hope Island Market Place, also due to open December 2018.
